Smart Move Sheffield register properties which are in close proximity to the University and in areas where there is good demand. We are currently taking new offers of accommodation in parts of S10, S11, S6, S3 and S1. If you have a property which is suitable for a student family, we will consider accepting properties further away from the University.

Registration Process

If you have a property which is suitable for a student family, we will consider taking these properties on further away from the University.

In order to register your property, you will need to have a Snug certification from Sheffield City Council - further details can be found here. Please check with the team at Smart Move Sheffield that your property is in an area suitable for registration before you proceed with Snug certification

Once you have Snug certification you can set up an account online and start adding information about your property, including uploading photographs and all of your certificates so that our team can process your application. Alternatively, you’re welcome to give us a call on (0114) 2226058 and we can send paper registration forms out to you.

Property of the Week Feature
Do you want your property to be the first one a student sees when they visit our homepage? We highlight 3 properties every week on our homepage, and you can purchase 1 (or all 3) of these slots to advertise.

The cost of this is as follows:
• £30 (inc. VAT) per property week or £75 for 3 properties per week during peak (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec)
• £25 (inc. VAT) per property week or £65 for 3 properties off-peak

Please note that properties for the next academic year can only be advertised from 01 November each year onwards i.e. properties advertised for Sept and Oct will have to be available for the current academic year.

You can invest in a prime spot at the top of each of our webpages to promote your accommodation, or a related product or service to students at the University of Sheffield.
During the last six months of 2025 our website has had over 90,000 visits from over 50 countries from across the world!
This service is primarily aimed at larger providers or companies however smaller landlords are also able to purchase this service if they require.

The cost of this is as follows:
• £400 (inc VAT) per month peak (Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec)
• £300 (inc VAT) per month off peak

There will be a total of 5 adverts, displayed on a rotating basis – of these 3 will be available to purchase and 2 will include internal messages/information.
